I've been using the "old" MSFS for almost 25 years, and I know how much performance was affected by the scenery and the number of objects being asked to draw, especially with FSX.  With this new Flight Simulator, I have to say I'm blown away by the performance that is kept high no matter the fact that tons of little details are included!

 

Now if I could only figure out how to work those airliners...
