Xbox app wants to update MSFS, then doesn't!

Featured Replies

MSFS has been running fine since the patch. I just opened up the Xbox app to check for any game needing updates to be confronted with MSFS having a failed 127GB update showing!😶 I tried restarting the update a couple of times with no success. I then opened up MS Store and it too had an update of unspecified size. Again, it would fail to do anything except throw up an error code. When I went back to Xbox, I opted to cancel the download and this prompted MS Store to update the Xbox app and make the MSFS update disappear. I restarted MSFS and it started normally as it had before.

All very odd!🤷‍♂️

I am new, and my posts have to go through moderation, so hopefully you get this in a timely manner... My best advice is to just be patient, unfortunately. It's my Microsoft policy, and tends to work-out.... I once left my computer on a black screen for >2 hours while Windows was "patching" and it did eventually come back to life. In the 2 days it took to download FS2020 I did have cause to restart a couple times, but also learned that this is another one that needs patience.... it can seem hung, and if you're on a laptop you'll have your fans running high, but I'd say give it at minimum 10-15 minutes of "it's hung" before you assume it really is.... it might just be doing the Microsoft Dance.

Welcome to the forum!

The thing is, I already had the patch so there should have been no update due. it's basically some sort of outdated glitch as far as I can tell, with both apps thinking I had an update to do when I really didn't. The lack of replies would suggest nobody else had the same issue.🙂

Aaaaand it's happened again! Looks like I'll just have to get used to it until I eventually by the sim when my Gamepass free subscription runs out.🙄
