Finetuning zoom without the use of the mouse scrollwheel

Having a bit of a problem with the zoom function.

When using the keyboard (or setup on the HOTAS), the cockpit zoom view has only a few (fixed) view points. The steps are really too big to my taste. However, when using the mouse scrollwheel, the cockpit zoom can be finetuned between these big steps when zoom is used by the keyboard. Is there an option to get zoom with the keyboard to work just as zoom with the mouse scrollwheel, in little steps?
