Endless restarting of file transfer during update downloads

Featured Replies

Some users are suffering endless restarts of update packages (progress to some percentage, then restart from zero), when downloading updates.

Two possible solutions:

Solution 1 (credit goes to fogboundturtle):

Use transfer limiting solution (NetLimiter or bandwith limiting options on the router) to ensure the transfer is stable without fluctuations. Experiment with the bandwidth limitation. In my case (the Internet link of just 5Mbps) it worked when limited to 4 Mbps, some users needed to go to 3 Mbps or even 500 kbps. For some users it not worked at all.

Solution 2:

Check is you ever limited the bandwitch in the simuator options. If so - remove the limitation. Set it to:

Options -> General -> Data -> Bandwidth -> Unlimited

Options -> General -> Data -> Data Limitation -> Off

If you can't access the configuration menu in the sim, because the sim is forcing you to update (so you can't access the configuration menu) - consider following steps:

- disconnect from the Internet (easiest option - disconnect the Ethernet cable if you use it and turn off the WiFi if you use it)

- run the sim

- it should discover no Internet access and go past the update process

- when in main menu, connect to the Internet (connect your Ethernet cable and/or turn on the WiFi)

- change the settings as specified above.

- restart te sim.

It may not work for all of you, but solution 1 worked form me ($20 for NetLimiter Lite Home after trial period), some people reported solution 2 worked for them.
