Greetings all..   first of all.. My heartfelt sympathies to all who got stuffed by the patch.   I am out there holding placards for you and whining on Zendesk for you as well.

For me.. I have noticed a lot of changes this patch (good) and thought I would list them here to see if others have these things as well....

As is usual for me..  I don't trust the update.. so in my usual manner last night.. I deleted the app, formatted the disk and set it to redownload overnight...  this was succesful for me.

As a given..  my community folder has 5 airports in it and the Navigraph database...  these I also re-installed.

Observations on two flights in the TBM which I use to check every patch to compare figures.....

  1.   O-N-E appears to be gone from ATC
  2.   Press any key has gone from startup.
  3.  Startup was about 5% faster overall.
  4.   AA is vastly improved.
  5.   I see a CPU decrease  and GPU increase..  about 3% on both
  6.  my frame rate is approc 5FPS better in all cases from my records
  7.  The TBM fuel manual/auto switch appears to now default to Auto rather than manual.
  8. Water looked MUCH better from altitude and close up to me.
  9. Luckily all my controller settings stayed fine and if anything were smoother post patch  (this may be placebo effect..  hard to tell)
  10. on both test flights of 2 hours each.. the PFD never locked out on the speed and alt ribbons..  (don't know if fixed, but always happened previously on a long flight)
  11. The big one for me....( although you may not agree)   since patch 1.8.3  if you amend the altitude in Low altitude flights from what was generated.. once you get off the ground and away from departure airport.. ATC completely ignored it.. you were flying up/down/ being sent to what they wanted rather than what you specified.   Today in both flights, one I adjusted upwards, one I adjusted downwards..  both were honoured by ATC and the flights completed normally.
  12. The plane felt as though it had more inertia..  was a smoother level off at top of climb on autopilot  and smoother at bottom of descent on autopilot.
  13. ATC didn't throw me to every conceivable altitude on an approach..  both approaches on ILS to Prestwick and to Heathrow were smooth step downs with a perfect ILS lock and approach.
  14. ILS seemed much better.. intercept was smoother and the actual approach was butter smooth throughout with the green diamond ribbon being much more accurate.
  15. ATC handled my departures and approaches much more smoothly and the changes to approach and tower were much more reasonable and at a better timing.
  16. Final descents were at a better range so I didn't have to drop like a rock to hit the approach.
  17. NO porpoising at any stage of ascent or descent.

All in all, apart from the actual patch stuffing up royally for a lot of people, I think there are some very positive aspects to this patch for me...   however, as we have seen before.. your mileage may well vary and probably will.

Regards

Graham
