November 13, 200619 yr Hi. got 2 Questions for FSX:1. How do i change the "reset view" angle for virtual cockpit? I mean the view you end up with after you press 5 on the numerical keyboard, it points straight down into the seat(!) i want to change it permanently to look 90' up into the hud/front window facing forward.2. Is it possible to change the throttle "scale" on a joystick so that it includes reverse and allow you to do reverse thrust with it? I have to do this on the keyboard right now. Thanks in advance.
November 14, 200619 yr Hi Ichinin,This is so confusing! The numpad 5 is NOT the default front view or reset. It is by default the look-down-at-seat-and-wonder-where-the-ice-cube-went-view. The reset look-forward-at-the-fast-approaching-ground-view is (A)the 8 key (B)the reset view (as defined by default) Shift+numDEL - but only if the NUMLOCK is ON. If the NUMLOCK is OFF, this doesn't work but© SPACEBAR+numDEL does work. But also reset view is always (D) CTRL+SPACEBAR. Whew! This all assumes you haven't changed any of those default settings. If you want 5 to be restore-view-to-front then what use is the 8 key as that is what it does. If your inclination is to use the 5 key to reset the view then assign it that use in Settings > controls > assignments and go on and enjoy the flight. The reverse thrusters are NOT part of the normal throttle function so I doubt if there is any way to 'calibrate' it to do so. Sounds like something for a gauge designer to come up with - or a very sophisticated control stick that was programed to do so.Hope this helpsLoyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
November 14, 200619 yr >2. Is it possible to change the throttle "scale" on a joystick>so that it includes reverse and allow you to do reverse thrust>with it? I have to do this on the keyboard right now.Depends on your joystick. The TM Cougar HOTAS will definately let you do that, I've got a FS2002 profile that I'm messing with that will engage the thrust reversers if you pull the throttle below idle detent. I'm still trying to get the code and calibration right so that the throttle will output 0% when at idle (right now it's putting out about 30% of total travel at idle detent so the plane is always rolling unless I apply brakes) but I'm sure it can be done.If you've got the $$$, GoFlight's throttle quadrant should be just what the Dr. ordered. 4 thrust levers, each with it's own thrust reverse lever. I don't have one (don't fly jets much) but it's on my wish list. I ordered their "Private Pilot" system last week, if I'm pleased with it I imagine the throttle quadrant will be next.
November 14, 200619 yr Heh.. thanks, i always wondered where that ice cube went. I've remapped that function to the joystick along with the wheelbrakes, works better now.Couldnt remap it to the numpad button because it said it was the "center aileron/elevators" - even though it wasnt (shift+Num5).
