November 14, 200619 yr Just a simple question looking for a simple answer. If you create traffic in traffic tool how do save this traffic so it will show up next time you use FSX.I have created flights with flight plans at my local airport, which has plenty of parking space but no traffic, and it works fine, however when I start up FSX the next day, all the traffic I created is gone. If MS is going to give us a tool to create traffic does it not make sense to have this traffic saved into the traffic.bgl.
November 15, 200619 yr Author Hi DC.The TrafficToolBox just creates a flight in memory for the session. No, you can't save it. If you want a permanent flightplan, then you must create it outside of FSX either using the SDK info for now or wait until a FSX-compatible Traffic creator is released by a developer -- or maybe there is one already; I don't recall. FS9 traffic works reasonably well in FSX but NOT while the default FSX traffic is active. If you load a FS9 traffic plan the default will be disabled. A lot of us are using our AI packages from FS9 and consigning Orbit and Pacifica to the trash heap.As to why you can't save it...They COULD have made it savable but unless it was a complete package that allowed ALL of the potentials inherent in the sim there would have been massive complaints! "^&%$&$* Microsoft! They MAKE me start up the sim to create traffic files. Why didn't they put the code outside the sim! This is Crazy!" etc etc etc.If you have a simple flight or two that you would like to use all the time, take time to code it externally -- you'll probably want to add to it anyway over time. The other issue is Parking. If you could do all the traffic creating in the sim, they'd have to give you a way (IN THE SIM) to adjust for inadequate parking at small airports that were already full. Now you are revising Scenery files on the fly and there would be more glitches and more complaints..... How about a projected realease date for FSX.1 with all these features in about 2009?If you want to use FS9 traffic now (temporarily) you can use TrafficTools and make usable flightplans in short order.Good luck, whatever your choice.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
