Global Warming apocalypse simulator ;)

I was flying today for the very first time over photogrammetry area (Seattle) with my quite low-speed Internet (5 Mbps), then a bit over Ilulissat (Greenland) are here is my apocalyptic story 😉

Today I discovered my Internet working with higher than usual speed. So I was able to check the weather – it was good enough to risk a flight and check how are things going in the city, if there is anybody alive there. Here is what I have seen:

  • the sea level higher than usual, several bridges and harbor structures still under water, there were some autonomous cars driving through the sunken bridges anyway, but no sign of trains,
  • the high rise buildings in the downtown distorted, their once shiny facades cracked and disfigured,
  • to my shock, even the buildings in the residential areas were either collapsed or partially damaged,
  • some roads were destroyed, was it an earthquake?
  • the trees even higher, some people in our camp say the reason is the mysterious “tree height fix” which was applied to avoid trees suddenly grow at unimaginable speed a mile or two in front of you, a pretty scary phenomena; the authorities refuse to admit the popping up trees resulted from something they did, at least not intentionally,
  • to my shock I spotted several Airbuses at Boeing field (refugees?), however they were deserted, so I was not able to check if Europe is doing any better,
  • the LOD was still low, compared to pre-apocalypse (you know, pre August 2020).

When I returned to our camp, I discovered that our expedition sent to explore Greenland (whether is more habitable) returned with the following report:

  • they visited Ilulissat area, the town located at the once mighty 70 km glacier, producing the major share of North Atlantic floating icebergs – the whole glacier is now gone, just the seawater in the fiord,
  • the temperatures appear much higher as most of the country is now covered by the forest, where was only tundra once,
  • however, to their shock, the whole are is dotted by some kind of craters, was that meteorites?

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen another plane flying in the distance today, but as soon I spotted it I suffered a strange condition, like slow FPS movie. I tried to correct the settings of my nVidia surround glasses (still no option to set individual settings for each eye/display), but when my vision returned to normal FPS again, the plane was gone. Not sure if it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, they say this happens when you look to much into the post-apocalyptic red sunset and the strange sky with the cirrus clouds gone long time ago…

If the Internet will be stable again and if we will be able to find some more gas (something wrong with the plane, gulping gas like crazy), I will attempt another flight tomorrow. I have seen the cars at the Paine field today, probably autonomous just driving as once programmed, but I believe I have seen a human in a yellow vest – when I tried to approach him he disappeared, but there is a hope I will be able to make contact this time as definitely somebody was talking on the radio today, I believe it was a human, even if voice still sounded artificial. But this guy in the vest – I’m sure he was there…
