On the Wagon with FSX !

You know what I've discovered with me and FS9? I bought FS9 in July of 2003. I flew it happy as a clam with no CTD's ever until the summer of 2005. I had every addon working well on the market up to that time except addon-scenery and airports! I was happy. Then I spoiled it. I started to buy every blankity-blank airport package and some terrain products as well out there. By the summer of 2006, I went from the basic what, 70 or so entries in my scenery.cfg file to nearly 300 entries, 95% of which were payware. As the number of addon airports increased, so did my CTD's. My AFCADS got scrambled. I spent from fall of 2005 through to about August of 2006 tweaking and fixing and seldom flying because of the fear of CTD's. I finally got things fixed and tweaked and Then what? FSX comes on the scene! WIth one exception, there are now no airport packages out there. The scenery developers are battling major FSX terrain/scenery changes and are not happy at all. Well, who would be. THey cannot get their present software to work with FSX and are awaiting (once again waiting for SDK's!!....oh well!) the magic tools from ACES.In the mean time, I've been forced off my addiction and have to fly native FSX airports. And you know what? I love it! I'm having so much fun. Yes, FSX airports arent perfect and they're kinda blocky and goofy in some cases, but I love CTRL-J and I love opening my cargo bays and seeing the little baggage trucks come out. I went and bought Cloud9's new KMCO. And you know what? I wondered why they had a new FSX airport package and every other of the major developers did not. It's because Cloud9 compromised with FSX and used a ton of native FSX objects. Yes, it's not a pure KMCO, but it's really nice. BUt the bottom line for me.....I loved flying FS9 BEFORE all the scenery purchases and now I love FSX again without all the freakin' payware airports. Yes, I bought Cloud9's effort, but that may be the last one. I'm on the wagon with FSX (I think!.....LOL) and want a new addiction, how about a kick butt mission generator to satisfy my lust for a clever set of commercial aviation challenges. huh? It's good to hear you are enjoying FSX. I hope it continues to bring even more enjoyment as FSX matures. I am also enjoying it very much. However, be prepared for what is to follow! Don't know what I mean? You will see.

Jason[br /]General Aviation Fan[br]

Yesterday I just added my 444 and 445 entries into my FS9.CFG. It was the wonderful new Bahamas Freeflow scenery. I must say that any problems Ive had in the past with sceneries Ive solved rather quickly and not had any problem with CTDs exept when an occasional rogue scenery was installed. Even then I quickly isolated the problem and promptly uninstalled it. I love add on sceneries especially of airports. FS9 would just not be the same without the wonderful airport sceneries from Flightscenery, FlyTampa, Imaginesim, Aerosoft, Simwings, Cloud 9, ISD, UK2000, and a host of other paywares and feeewares that are too eshaustive to name. Thank you all talented scenery designers for your hard work. FSX, well the cycle starts all over again but for me it's not over yet for FS9.Regards, Carlos

I'm TRYING to keep FSX relatively clean. I had FS9 loaded up with tons of payware and freeware. At the very least I'm trying to refrain from turning FSX into FS9 by loading it up with old FS9 stuff. I've intalled the FSGenesis mesh for FSX and some of the new paint schemes out for the default aircraft, and I've installed the FSGenesis US Landclass from FS9. I've copied over some FS9 aircraft but generally wasn't happy with the results and took them out. I do have all my Carenado planes working nicely (except for the strobe light issue). We might need an Add-ons Anonymous chapter. :)Jim
