  1. Sweet a nice looking Bandeirante. Thanks Mom!
  2. Hey jfri, Open your scenery.cfg file (save a backup first) check to make sure that each scenery layer is numbered correctly, and no two layers are the same. Also within each layer if there is 'layer=xx' xx being a number, make sure that is the same as the scenery layer. I had similar issues after allowing a scenery installer to automatically modify the scenery.cfg file. Let me know if that helps.
  3. My Apologies, how could I forget the name Steve (Bear) Cartwright.
  4. Interestingly I get this when visiting their site, perhaps they should be alerted:
  5. Hey Team Avsim, Congratulations on the new sleek look of Avsim. I know how difficult it is to bring everything together. The front page is growing on me and despite getting used to the two column presentation of articles. I have a request, for many years I really enjoyed the articles written by 'Bear'. Bear's Racing, Bears Cave, listing awesome freeware and payware he enjoyed, along with other interesting articles. Not sure if it still is published, but I would love to be able to access the articles again. I can search Google and get the pages, but it is completely unorganized and I doubt I can see them all. Would it be possible to have these available with the new format? Can I help in some way?
  6. Bill, Sorry i haven't had time to look-up my BIOS info, but something to try. What If you were to try the old card again, and see if you get the same behavior. Or have you tried that? Remember to remove the current drivers first then you'll need to reinstall for the old card. Also backup your fs9.cfg in your Windows profile and let a new cfg file get created, after putting in the old card. Strange that your other games are fine. That would seem to point to an FS9 specific issue. What that is, is................. Let us know.
  7. The best thing would be to contact VirtualCol support, there may have been an installation issue. http://www.virtualcol.com/tvirtual/tvirtual.php?modulo=contacto.php
  8. By the way this list for your board is interesting I don't see the HD4670 on there as supported. BUT, then again that may not matter. http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=4CoreDual-SATA2
  9. Hey Bill, I understand your frustration, I was hoping my suggestions would have helped a little more. I am still in the dark ages, with a P4 3.2ghz, and an AGP Radeon 3850. It runs FS9 ok, and FSX depending on where I fly, its usable. With two kids and one more on the way, a new PC is not on the priority list, although I accept all donations...LOL 1. Can you return the card you have for an exchange? It's worth a try. 2. Update your Chipset drivers also. (http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=4CoreDual-SATA2&o=XP) 3. On your mainboard I believe you have on-board sound. Are you using that or another add-on card? Check the drivers, and settings (directx) for that device. Maybe dial down the acceleration in sound settings. I have been through this before and it took forever to update the drivers (chipset, display, monitor, sound). There is also a few things I had to do, in my BIOS after the moving to the newer Radeon card, I just have to go back through my notes. I'll check back in once I have that info. Your in the right place to get help, we'll get it sorted.
  10. I am grasping at straws here, but, do you have the latest BIOS for your mainboard? Same for the Radeon? Be aware flashing a BIOS has its risks, check the BIOS changelog before doing it will help you decide if you need it.Hopefully someone will come along with a solution that will help. I wish I could do more.

  12. Do you have any background services running? Antivirus, Firewall? See if your AV has a game mode.I would suggest before launching try to kill all unneeded services. Two tools to assist,1. ENDITALL,http://enditall.en.softonic.com/and2. Game Boosterhttp://download.cnet...4-10913645.htmlAs always take care in using these. Also check your display drivers are up to date. Check the fans on your CPU and Display card.
  13. I have been considering this set, it has Winair as part of the set.http://www.aerosim.c...e/PL1_2k4_e.htm
  14. LOL I meant that to the OP........but thanks for the information, I'll use it the next time I fly that brick.
  15. uuuuhhhhhmmmm, I am comfused
  16. I second Microsoft Security Essentials, and also to use MalwareBytes PRO as a backup. The Reason? If MSE or any other AV does detect a virus (I've used Comodo, Vipre, Avast, Avira), I wait for MBPRO to detect it also, or I run a secondary scan with MBPRO If the MB scan comes up clean I knows its a false positive.MB has not in any way interrupted or caused any perf issues in FS9.Just as an FYI, I am not affiliated with MB in anyway, I just use it alot with work and at home. It's a life/time saver.
  17. Someone mentioned in a post recently a utility that works with FS9 that checks your scenery cfg file. I have searched for it but cannot locate that post. Can someone remind me of the utility's name? Thanks.
  18. Yeah, I have avoided Aerosoft stuff for that same reason. I really do a lot of research before buying anything, just because I hate to waste money. These days money is tight and with kids they usually (and happily) come first.I made a decision that when I do purchase, I am going to do so from a reputable 3PD, in addition to that, one who does not implement overly archaic protection schemes. It causes more headache than it needs to. Although I do understand the 3PDs need to safeguard their work.Anyway this may lead into a WHOLE other topic. Thanks again Ian for your helpful input.
  19. Thanks for that Ian and Bill,I will probably get PANC from AeroSoft at the end of the month. I have Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska, I think I will stick with that for now, and reconsider Alaska Cinematic.Do any of you use FSEconomy in the area?
  20. Hi Kiwi,I have just started flying there, and am considering the Aerosoft PANC, and Alaska CInematic. COudl I bother you to find out what issues you had and what you did to get it working? Thanks very much for any help.
  21. I see what your saying. The price reflects that.....Nonetheless it's not the worst I have spent 7 bucks on. Still enjoying it though.Mad Dog, I know of the Aeroworx King Air (Own it), The F1 Cessna 421C (own it), The DreamFleet Baron 58 (own It). I am just getting back into FlightSim, so I am trying to catch-up. Can you point me in the direction of a few of the Twins available for FS9?Thanks for the input guys, its really appreciated!
  22. Hey All,I am huge fan of small GA twins, especially Cessna (400 series) and Piper (Navajo, Chieftain, Aztec). I used to fly them with my father when we ran a small charter company. I have been searching high and low for a decent twin, and I found one, and a really good one at that.I would have missed it if I blinked too, I found it at Simmarket, It's a Cessa T-303 Crusader by VirtualCol. Darn cheap too, the perfect price I would say.Link:http://secure.simmar...-crusader.phtmlIt does use the default Baron sounds, but I found the 'Big Twin' sound pack in the Avsim library which fits this plane perfectly. Anyone else have this one? I am really enjoying it.
  23. Thank Joe,I'll give that try this evening. I just obtained a Goose on FSEconomy and want to make sure it behaves well.

  25. Hi All,I just downloaded the awesome Grumman Goose by Bill Lyon. It's a great plane, but I have pretty interesting issue.I can begin a landing on water, however as I slow down and become stationary, the Goose will shoot straight up (about 100 feet) and then nose over and just keep boucing up and down. Starting the aircraft on a water airport will do the same.I had crash detection off, turned it on. Same thing, except it crashes right away on the water. I had the flight realism settings all the way right, I moved the Crash Tolerance back to the left 'Easy'. No difference.I tried the default Cessna Caravan amphibian, and that behaviour does not appear at all, whether take-off, stationary on the water, or landing.Anyone have some input? Contact points maybe? How would I edit those? Thanks
