  1. Thank you very much guys. Lots to think about. I've become sort of a neat freak when it comes to file organization on my PC so any input on making life easier is good. Thanks again guys!! :-)[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  2. Pilot Nicco,I am encouraged to still see such excitement for making freeware, period!! However I think making a somewhat complicated add-on does indeed take time. I'm looking forward to your freeware creation. Otherwise I hope all goes well with your release. It would seem at least to me after returning to Flightsim after a somewhat longer than usual hiatus, freeware appears to be a struggling art. I would hope rather than responding negatively, we should encourage and offer help to keep freeware alive. Just my 2 cents.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  3. Hello all,I have been away from Flightsim for awhile, due to the death of my PC. I have a temporary stand in while I save for that 'dream machine'. I have come back to find I must have been a demented download freak when I was downloading all that awesome freeware scenery, aircraft and utilities. There is just no rhyme or reason to the way I organized them.I am looking for a way to organize the files, but I am drawing a blank. I am sure a lot of you have genius ways of saving/naming your files for easy browsing and organization. Would you mind sharing? Thanks!![hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  4. Hey Don,On the security warning there should be a check mark that allows you to disable the security warning. Uncheck 'Always ask when opening this file' that and it should go away.Let me know.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  5. Look no further than Acronis Disk Director Suite 10. Miles a head of Partition Magic, where there is no magic any longer. When Partition Magic said my partitions were bad, Acronis Disk Director had no issues making the changes to my partitions. Stick to Acronis, you can't go wrong with them, and its cheaper too.Let me know if you have any questions.
  6. Hey Brian,Really the only way to see if these similar issues will affect you is to run vista on your machine. There is an option you can try, I did it for 30 days then purchased Vista and entered the Key, it works fine now.Dual-Boot a trial version of Vista on your PC with XP. Installing Vista to a seperate partition can allow you to 'try' before you buy. Vista will allow you to install without a Product Key and run for 30 days. You will need to obtain Vista media, and of course pirating the software is out of the question. Do you have a friend or family member with a Vista DVD? You can use their media ONLY to install without the key and run for 30 days.I would suggest if possible to install SP1 soon after the install. SP1 resolved a number of incompat. issues and performance for me.Feel free to ask more questions.
  7. I have seen this same behaviour, albeit it was with an Nvidia card. The card itself was bad or on its way to failing. After replacing the card the artifacts were never seen again.Saw this both in FS and in other games (ie Age of Empires 3).[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/

  9. Wow, wish I would have received that email, I purchased quite a few of their aircraft years ago too. Then I might consider the Avanti, and the new Navajo, and the new Porter. As it stands now, I just can't do it.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/

  11. I am not sure but see this thread with similar issues you are seeing:http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPo...51968&SiteID=17and here:http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=36079Please let me know if any of the suggestions help out. I would look at the second link having to do with the audio setting in the BIOS.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  12. Viola! Ask and you shall receive!! Driver Cleaner can be found here:http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745Let us know if it helps. Just an FYI, The way I update my drivers is as follows:1. Uninstall ATI/Nvidia driver from Add/Remvove Programs in Control Panel.2. Reboot into SAFE MODE (Hold down F8 just before Windows Boots)3. Run Driver Cleaner in Windows Safe Mode.4. Reboot into regular Windows, and install the new drivers. If the install Wizard pops up cancel it.It usually provides a stress free update, and minimal if any conflicts.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  13. Is this a new FS9 install? Or is it one you have been running for awhile, and just started having problems?A few questions for you:Do you have any installed sceneries in the areas you are flying in?Any newly installed aircraft?Have you recently installed new video card drivers?Have you recently applied any Microsoft patches or fixes?Made any changes to the fs9.cfg file?If you look at the 'Application' event viewer do you see the error and any other information? You can get to the Event Viewer by right clicking on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'.Any antivirus running at the same time?Any other programs running at the same time as FS9?Let me know. We'll see if we can help out. No doubt a few other simmers will pop in and help out too.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/

  16. Hey there,Are you running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, then it may be "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP). If you are, try turn off DEP in the XP control panel:System > properties > advanced > Data Execution Prevention. If it is set to 'All Programs' you could also try adding FS9 to the exclusions. Setting an exclusion may be better than just disabling DEP, as it does add a layer of protection.Give it a try and let us know.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  17. This is not directed at any one person. Beware....Rant On!Every person I know who enjoys gaming, including myself, constantly complains or talks about how they always have to upgrade their hardware to play the latest and greatest. How is the FS franchise any different? Many hardware components are obsolete the second you buy them, as two weeks later a better improved model will be released.FSX is the progression of the series. More demand on the hardware, due to the same features WE requested and wanted. It baffles me sometime the blanket statements some make of how their hardware that ran FS8 and FS9 so well now bites the dust with FSX. It's always been this way, always will be. I can't complain, as I know I must upgrade my PC to enjoy FSX to its fullest. As regards the statement they should rebuild the sim from scratch. How do we know that would make things better? Would you not also have to buy or upgrade to newer hardware to take advantage of the new features and obtain good performance? Comparing FSX to Crysis makes little sense to me. Don't you have to upgrade your hardware to play Crysis to its fullest? If ACES took the idea of a 'from the ground up rebuild', wouldn't we complain about the negating of our third party add-ons no longer working? I can just hear the outcry now. How dear ACES do this to us, they don't listen to their customers.ACES has a prety good handle on the pulse of the hobby, and will lead the FS franchise in the right direction. Like Jim commented above, we'll hear all of this again at the next release. It's easy to predict.Cheers,[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/

  20. Beta testers are under NDA and do not discuss any features, show pictures of the release nor do they 'lend' a friend a copy of the beta release software. The post was reported to the team and removed by the admins at the site. Hopefully the offending tester will be found. Please guys we all know the deal with Betas.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/

  24. I had planned to post it, but thought Phil might do so. Hoewever I think they needed to take a serious break on a Friday night. They have to be logging some serious hours on this. ACES really are working hard to get SP1 to be a real success. I have no doubt it will be.I did post it on my blog last night.[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog: http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
  25. Just to Clarify, this is a Windows Vista OS fix, not an FSX fix. Not related in any way to SP1 for FSX.If you have run into an issue with FSX and Vista on your multi-monitor setup, and have experienced issues with video image corruption see this link:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=enSee also:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=933590[hr width=100%" size=1 color="black]http://forefrontgrp.com/MyLogo2.JPGJason | General Aviation FanVisit my new Blog:http://abwain.spaces.live.com/
