March 28, 201214 yr Someone mentioned in a post recently a utility that works with FS9 that checks your scenery cfg file. I have searched for it but cannot locate that post. Can someone remind me of the utility's name? Thanks. J R (Jason R MYNN) General Aviation Nut FSEconomy Pilot

March 29, 201214 yr Hello:For those wishing to fix most common errors in the FS Scenery.Cfg file (without a learning curve or installing .NET 4.0), consider using Steve Greenwoods (FREEWARE) FSTScenery utility to sort and renumber scenery.cfg layers:http://fst.stevemg.n...s/fsscenery.zipFYI: The second most common cause of Scenery.Cfg issues is moving folders and/or files for a package after initially adding them as an "Area" in FS Scenery Library; these types of errors must be fixed manually via the FS Scenery Library "Edit" function to browse to a current proper path for the Scenery folder containing any pertinent BGLs which were "moved".PS: FSTScenery works in FS 2000 through FSX versions of MSFS.BTW: For FSX (only)... in Vista and/or Win7 be sure to 'un-hide' and allow administrative access to "write" into the system protected folder chain where ones 'active' copy of FSX Scenery.Cfg is located. For FS2004 (aka "FS9"), the 'active' Scenery.Cfg is in the main or root installation folder where FS9.exe is located.Hope this helps ! :smile:GaryGB
March 29, 201214 yr By the way, which scenery CFG is the active one? The one in the FS9 main folder or the one in the user's folder? Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
March 29, 201214 yr Hey, since you're using windows 7 you don't need to install anything other then rsc. Microsoft has made dotnet standard on people's system for years now so in most cases you only need to install the software you want to use.The active/live config is the one in the FS9 main folder.t

March 29, 201214 yr I think gary might be right about framework 4. Hey gary...I never did install any of the other scenery renumbering utilities out there. Does Steve's utility have a syntax check or is it just a straight renumber?Mark
March 29, 201214 yr Do any of these utilities maintain the scenery priority as set in the scenery library FS settings?
March 29, 201214 yr I have been using Scenery Align software by Richard Bixler for years. Do a search on the library using his name. I use it for FS9 & FSX scenery configs under Win7 HP 64.If you want to use it with FSX you will need to create a dummy default FS9 directory with an scenery config file inside into which you copy all default FSX entriesand then add those you need for your flight. Once correctly ordered by the program, copy and paste all contents into the real FSX scenery.cfg which resides in the All users folder.
