Anyone getting "unable to capture screenshot" error?

Featured Replies

About a third of the time when I take a screenshot using the "V" command in FSX, I get an error message that says "Unable to capture your screenshot." In these circumstances I still get a .bmp file that is the same size as the image file I get when the screenshot is in fact captured, but when you open it, it says "Drawing failed." So the data - or most of it - seems to be there although it is unreadable.I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem or if anyone knows what's going on here and has an explanation or a fix. Thanks, Robert

Hmmm not sure but do you have Window paint program installed, or Windows picture and Fax viewer. Just a thought maybe FSX needs some of windows little add ons to work who knows with Microsoft the way the try to force you to keep all there junk installed.

All that's needed is already there. It works 2/3 of the time. Without apparent rhyme or reason I get this error message about 1/3 of the time. Sometimes, if I wait 5 minutes more into the flight, I can then get a screenshot. But not necessarily when I want to.

When I want to do that, I just press the Printscreen key. That puts whatever's on the screen in the clipboard, and I can copy the clipboard to many Windows applications.

Hmm thats really odd you can try fraps it does screen captures also.
