GSX and Q400 Pushback

Hello, those familiar with the Bombardier Q400 will know that it's customary to feather engine #2 with the GPU still connected, then disconnect it and commence the pushback. Replicating this SOP with GSX and the Majestic Q400 has proven to be difficult. If I start/feather the engine right away I can't even request pushback, if I do it while the tow bar is being connected, it is aborted, so I can only wait until I'm told to release the parking brake. It works but this command is repeated every five seconds or so, which I find rather annoying... (And of course I'm never officially cleared to start the engine anyway.)

So my question is, is there any "smarter" way to do this, some option/configuration that I am missing? Thanks a lot.
