Oculus Quest 2 - FS 2020 help needed

Featured Replies

Hi All

Can anyone give any help on how to get FS 2020 (MS store purchase) up and running in VR?

I bought a new pc for FS 2020 a couple of months ago and it has been running great, no CTD and I have been loving it

However my wife bought me a OQ2 for Christmas and I have been trying to set up VR on FS 2020 and having no success at all (I am not massively tech savvy)

If anyone has any tips on how to best get FS 2020 up and running with OQ2 it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Just went through this tonight and got it working.

Make sure to download the oculus app to your desktop.

Then under the settings go to Beta menu and enable the public test channel.  It should immediately start downloading an update the oculus software again.

Under the General menu enable the Unknow Sources, though I'm not sure if it works without this as I checked it off prior to trying it out.

Restart computer.

Make sure you are using the link cable and attach to computer.

Start the flight sim and then go to options and under general select Virtual Reality and in there select switch to vr.

I'm doing this from memory (albeit about 2 hours ago) so I hope others can chime in if I missed something.

Great many thanks for this, much appreciated - will try it as soon as I get home.

Couple of other quick questions -

1) Did you have / do you need to have the oculus app open when you launch MSFS to play the sim ? Or was it closed?

2) Similarly, did you have / do I need to have the Steam VR app open when I launch MSFS to play it ? (even though I purchased through MS Store and NOT steam)

3) Was your joystick & throttle working when you switched to VR?

The reason why I ask the above is that when I tried unsuccessfully previously I think my steam VR app was trying to get involved in the process somehow plus my joystick and throttle wouldn't work / had been disabled

Thanks for in advance for any help !

If you have the cable hooked up it should automatically start the oculus app on the computer.  You do not need steam open and yes the joystick and throttle worked fine.

slashed2 thanks so much for this, worked great ! 🙂

Wow what an awesome experience, only downside was some parts/screen not as sharp as would ideally like but hopefully I can sort  that over the next few days with a few tweaks

Working on the same issue as well.  The cockpit is blurry so looking into fixes for that. Glad I could help.

I would recommend looking into downloading the Oculus Tray Tool, I did that today but my link cable broke and have not been able to test out tweaking of settings.  There are individual settings for different graphics cards in the tool so I'm hoping to play around with those.  One thing I've heard but have not confirmed is to play around with SuperSampling in the Tray tool.
