November 30, 200619 yr hi holger, thanks for your quick replythe "offensive" screenies are attached below. unfortunately, i am not talking about the default landclass. i dumped all my landclass collection from fs9 into fsx. it improved matters big time--this is the only bug that stands out, everything else i can live withthe location is bretagne/loire. you can see how these tiles are scattered through the landscape. the highly visible autogen trees stand out like a sore thumb from miles awayif i knew which tile it is, i would just overwrite it (garett-style :)) with a moderate-zone forest (no biggie if it breaks the world as i rarely venture outside of europe and canada). a slightest hint will be much appreciatedhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/162318.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/162319.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/162320.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/162321.jpg
November 30, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi there, nice example why FS9 land class files really aren't compatible with FSX!Here's another: In my own FS9 land class files I frequently used a class called "Degraded Tropical Rainforest" because it had no autogen and looked somewhat like North American forestry clearcuts. Worked great in FS9 but in FSX that same class has a dense cover of tropical trees. So I need to find a substitute and re-compile the land class file for FSX use (In fact, I need to find substitutes for about half of my FS9 classes, which is why this process takes a while). Here's how you can try to find and edit the class that creates those issues for you.* place you aircraft directly above one of those locations* start TMFViewer (part of the FS9 or FSX Terrain SDK) and load the land class file that is active (i.e., highest priority) in that area* read the class number/name at the location of your aircraft* use my land class table - http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=57245 - to find the texture set names and information about the .agn files.Keep in mind that most vegetation classes have hard-coded autogen placement files so there may not be any accessible .agn files to delete or alter. In that case you're out of luck until the original developer updates his land class file or an alternative becomes available.Good luck!Cheers, Holger
November 30, 200619 yr a great recipe! i'll do just that. i probably won't bother with the agn (what would i do with all those anthills afterwards? :-)). i'll just overwrite the offending texture subset with anotherthanks a million. vilk's off to the mine :-)
November 30, 200619 yr okee, reporting back :-)i used your advice with success, thanks. for now i just killed an ancient landclass file, which called for mangroves on cap fr
November 30, 200619 yr i come back again to prostrate myself before you...all instances of the "jungle patch" i have found so far came from no. 34: "tropical degraded forest"i'm soooo smart (coz i knew who to ask for help :-)):-lolthanks!
November 30, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi there, sorry, Class 34 doesn't have "external" .agn files so there's nothing a user can do other than asking the original developer to adjust the FS9 land class file for FSX.Cheers, Holger
