November 30, 200619 yr Hey everyone... I just got FSX yesterday and I am loving it (yes... performance issues galore but I can live with that... all the new features make up for it)I have a question though:What is the best way to replace a default flight model with one from an addon of the same type? Can it be as simple as just replacing both the air and cfg files? I know I know I should just try it and see... but I thought I'd ask here. A couple of great examples is I would love to replace the default King Air with Aeroworx's... and even the 747 with one of the 47's from POSKY.One of the planes I want to update the most is the Mooney... it still has those horrible takeoff and landing behaviors... and doesnt fly that stellar in the air either. I thought I saw a website some time ago where a guy had created replacement flight models for a lot of the default planes.Any input is appreciated :)
November 30, 200619 yr Doesn't work, don't try it. Flight model is in the .air file, modified by the aircraft.cfg file. Mess with either and you may create all sorts of problems, so just swapping one for another likely as not will give you a result the opposite of what you are looking for.Personally, I think the default Mooney is much better in FSX than it was in FS9. What horrible takeoff and landing behaviors are you talking about?Allcott
November 30, 200619 yr Author Actually, the Mooney IS better, I do agree with you on that. To be honest, I think I exaggerated on how "bad" it might be because the only issue I had, really, was the takeoff. Basically, it "pops" off the runway... it is almost like the tires are really sticky, so when you rotate, it doesn't smoothly lift off... it just jumps off. I just wondered if anyone had any tweaked flight models for it.
