GTN750 into RWDesign DCH6-300 V2 ??

Featured Replies

Hello Simmers,

I have the RWDesign Twin Otter Ver 2 & it says GTH750 ready with a GTN750.ini file.

Problem is there is no information on incorporating this into the 3D cockpit?

Has anyone done this? RWDesign is of no help and no documentation.

Thanks

This question was also posted on the x-plane.org forum. I believe it has been answered due to a reply from OP to my post.

I will post my reply here as it may be of help to someone later...

GTN 750 in RWDesign DHC-6 V2

1) Purchase and install the plugin software for the GTN 750.

2) Start X-Plane 11, cold and dark, home airport and pick a daytime hour and reasonable weather so you have visibility in the cockpit.

3) Wait until the DHC-6 loads and is stable on your parking spot.

4) Pilot door, lower pouch, black flight book...click on it.

5) This book brings up your menue items...enable GTN 750 and while you are at it, enable ground power so you can play a bit with it and not drain the aircraft battery. Later, you can go into settings and map a toggle/key to   xap   which is the pouch menue.

6) When you enable the GTN 750 in the menue, it will appear in place of the GNS 530 on your aircraft panel.

7) Turn on ground power, upper left overhead side panel, place mouse on toggle and use scroll wheel to place switch up into ground power.

8) The GTN 750 will power up now. Go to upper screen left side plugins menue, select GTN 750 and select popup window. The popup will show on the screen. Go back into plugins, GTN 750 and select popout...the screen GTN window will change color and you can now moove it where you want such as another monitor. If you leave it on another monitor as a popout, it will remember it's location and appear next aircraft boot...still need to use the book menue to enable it's operation.

9) In the plugins menue, choose GTN 750, ensure it is "master" device and in (GTN) settings, scroll down to ensure gps commands are two way. Your manual for the GTN will explain the options available to you in GTN settings.

10) While testing aircraft empty, it is tail heavy. I usually put 200 kg cargo in front hatch (menue item) so the aircraft stops sitting like a dog if you reverse pitch :)

11) The aircraft developer has made this aircraft RXP GTN 750 compatable and included a custom 3D bezel. This is not the case with all aircraft. The GTN 750 will operate as a popup/popout in most aircraft. If a GTN750 bezel has not been custom made for the aircraft, and you want it to also show in the aircraft panel, this is when I usually hijack a GNS530 bezel for the GTN 750 display. The display will be a bit distorted but the popout is the one to use for full functionality. You can actually hijack any screen real estate once you know the panel co-ordinates.

Same info applies to the RXP GNS 530W V2, can hijack as well. The GTN 750/650, GNS530W/430W V2 and X-Plane 11 avionic popouts work well on a  touch monitor flipped to portrait.

Hope that helps a bit.

//mod note for RWDesign DHC-6 300 V2 version 2.11..aircraft acf with planemaker

In standard/systems/general 1/instruments of Plane Maker
Pilot ( and Copilot) auto adjust CDI to GPS DTK...is disabled as of last aircraft update, 2.11. if mod required, check both to enable, save file and do the same to the other required acfs. STMA updater plugin (onscreen aircraft plugin manager at top of screen) to be on "manual"..or you will overwrite your file.

DHC6F.acf
DHC6G1000.acf
DHC6S.acf
DHC6T.acf

It's not perfect, but gets the job done. :)
