iFLY flight plan file format problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been using Little Navmap for a short while with FSX/SE and am really impressed with its capabilities; I have just upgraded to version 2.6.7

I have recently tried to use it to generate an FMC file for the iFly 737-NG, as well as the standard FSX flightplan; however when I try to load it all of the waypoints are shown as '-1000'.
Having looked closely at the generated file, and comparing it with a good file, it seems that the problem is caused by a spurious space character at the start of the lat/long field for each waypoint (field 5 in each record); so this is incorrect:

DIRECT,3,MID,0,  51.053951-000.625003,0,0,252.00000,0,0,1,-1,0.000,0,-1000,-1000,-1,-1,-1,0,0,000.00000,0,0,,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1000,0,

And this is correct:

DIRECT,3,MID,0, 51.053951-000.625003,0,0,252.00000,0,0,1,-1,0.000,0,-1000,-1000,-1,-1,-1,0,0,000.00000,0,0,,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1,-1,-1000,0,-1000,-1000,0,

If I manually remove the extra space character from each row the file loads correctly; clearly the iFLY FMC is sensitive to this exact field format.

Might it be possible to correct this in a future release?

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

thank you for the detailed report.
Of course, I can't buy every plane there and have to rely on help from others for export. Thanks again.

I removed the extra space. One space remains if the ordinate is positive. Otherwise it is replaced with "-".

The fix will be included in next minor update 2.6.8.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your very prompt response; I appreciate that it is difficult to support so many different formats, am pleased to be able to pinpoint the problem for you.

Regards,
Martin

Hi Alex,

I just realised that I never got back to you on this; the fix in 2.6.8 is good - thank you!
