February 22, 20215 yr Hello, I am flying the Default Mooney in FS9 and when I turn on the “Prop DeIce” switch (I can do this by either pressing H on my keyboard or actually touching the switch on my touchscreen monitor), the Prop Deice light DOES NOT ILLUMINATE on the annunciator panel. Is there a fix for this by possibly modifying the Aircraft or Panel CFG file. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in finding a solution to this slightly annoying problem. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Lou.
February 22, 20215 yr Administrators Welcome to the AVSIM forums!😃 Do any of the other switches light up, like the Pitot Tube Heat switch? The H key is for carb heat and isn't the Mooney a fuel injected engine? February 22, 20215 yr Author Hi, Thanks for responding. The Mooney is Fuel Injected but I believe the FS9 Key Command reference guide states the “H” can be used for “Anti-Ice” as well. The other lights on the Annunciator panel DO light up when the associated switch is actuated. Lou
February 22, 20215 yr Administrators OK, so when the H key is pressed, the prop deice switch moves but no indicator light? I would guess that we have to assume the prop is being deiced. Probably a bug that was never fixed. Charlie AronAVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-RegistrarJust going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. February 23, 20215 yr Author Yes, I can either press the “H” key which actuates the Prop Deice switch or I can press the Prop De-Ice switch on my touchscreen monitor. In either case, I can see the switch move from Off to On, but the corresponding indicator light on the annunciator panel does not illuminate.
February 23, 20215 yr Administrators Don't know of any fix for this light problem. Looking at my Mooney panel from FSX, it didn't show any single switches, just Annunciator panel. In your aircraft.cfg under [propeller] do you have the line line this: prop_deice_available= 1 also [deice_system] structural_deice_type=0 //0 = None, 1 = Heated Leading Edge, 2 = Bleed Air Boots, 3 = Eng Pump Boots Charlie AronAVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-RegistrarJust going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. February 23, 20215 yr Author Yes, I do have those specific lines listed in the aircraft.cfg under “propeller”. I am guessing that there must be a line of code missing which links the actuation of the switch to the illumination of the annunciator. I have made extensive modifications to the default panel using FS PANEL STUDIO, but none of the modifications involved anything remotely related to the Prop De-ice switch or Annunciator panel.
February 23, 20215 yr Administrators By any chance, did you save a copy of the purely default panel to put back and try? Did the prop deice switch light up before your modifications? I have it on good authority, that in the default panel, the switch turns on but NO light ever shines! You may be chasing a "wild goose"! 🤔 Charlie AronAVSIM Board of Directors-ADMIN/Moderator-RegistrarJust going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. February 23, 20215 yr Author Hey Charlie, unfortunately I never did save a copy of the original default panel. Although, I do recall a couple of weeks ago I did flip the Prop Deice switch and the light on the annunciator did turn on; I believe that was the one and only time unless I was dreaming...lol. To be honest, I don’t really know much about cfg and XML files etc other than the very basics but I’m sure there should be a way of adding a line or 2 of code into some file that would illuminate the prop Deice lamp on the annunciator when the switch is flipped. I like to make things as realistic as possible as I am an IFR rated pilot and use my Sim to a certain degree to maintain my procedural proficiency...
