December 19, 200619 yr I do that by creating FS 2004 format scenery addons (BGL format) covering all land mass. Each one sits in its own folder and is of a manageable size (in terms of total number of tiles per folder). I haven't actually done this yet, so right now I am always flying inside a photo terrain of limited size. Grand Canyon has been my largest so far, requiring 15,000 tiles in total. To disable certain addon photo terrain, I would uncheck the corresponding checkmark in the "Addon Scenery" configuration dialog of FSX allowing me to revert to default textures quickly.I think this entire thread does not really belong in the FSX forum, as it is more development related. Admins, a quick move into the FSX scenery design folder would be appreciated. ;)Christian
December 21, 200619 yr Hello,I have been following these threads with great interest. I do not know very much about programming, so I am quite lost in these techincal discussions. However, reading the discussion about the different seasons not being properly represented made me think. Would it be feasible offer a subscription service? I realize that it would take incredible amounts of money to secure all of the servers and data. If a company had the resources, and the project had the profit potential. Why not tint the tiles for data streams the user requests. It could be just like we choose which season we want to fly in now. Or if possible, aquire the satellite data for each season (if it even exists). This was just a thought.... I have my Nomex zipped up tight and scott air pack ready to withstand the flames if this is not even in the realm of possibility. :7 Nick
