Traffic - Touch and Go

Featured Replies

I installed the FSX- SDK, and am looking over the traffic tools that show up on my menu in FSX.In order to create a traffic innstance at my local airport that does continuous "touch and go's", it looks as though I should first create a "route" using FSX's Route Planner, and then assign it to the instance in the "Create" set-up?Thanks in advance for your help!Bob

Just bumping this up a bit ... sorry ... but I'm finally back at my machine, and will now begin to examine creating some "touch & Go" routes for AI aircraft at my local KFCI.Thanks for any tips from those using the FSX SDK for Traffic.

It is possible that I may have to depend on one of the trult brilliant "code" people, ewe are truly lucky to have as part of this hobby, to figure out a "TTOOLS" approach to FSX AI-traffic development.I cannot seem to follow Microsoft's directions (desperately deficient in definition for a not-so-novice-user) in the "traffic tolls" SDK.Too bad ... I wasted half a bottle of a great Australian Shiraz!Looking for to help, and the fun of the holidays with you "mates".Ciao!

Bob, I just imported many of my traffic files directly from FS9. I used TTools to create the flightplans, etc. Apparently the differences in the FS9 and FSX formats isn't great enough to cause them not to function but some "weekly" plans do not operate on schedule. I don't mush care for the scheduling aspect as far as being "real"...I just want lot's of AI in my virtual skies and that's what I have, just by copying over the traffic BGL's and, of course, my AI aircraft folders. Thanks for the reply Paul!I no longer have FS9, and dumped it 1-1/2 years ago when I was unable to devote any time to FS.I just completed my research work, and am exicited about FSX, but I have none of my FS9 files, TTOOLS, or anything.Maybe I could commission some work!!!!

Well, TTools is still available I'm sure and is a free download. All you'd need to do is create the three files it needs defining the aircraft you want to use, the airports and then the flightplans. In your first post you mentioned just wanting to get some TNG traffic at one airport. That should be real easy to accomplish with TTools. There is a pretty good help file that comes with TTools that will get you up and going in no time at all. Paul

Thanks Paul! Will TTOOLS work with FSX?

>Thanks Paul!>>Will TTOOLS work with FSX? The files it creates ( BGL ) will work in FSX, There are some differences in the FSX traffic BGL format from that of FS9 such that TTools will NOT decomple a FSX BGL but you CAN create BGL's with TTools that do work in FSX as well as FS9. The format difference also may cause the flight schedule timing that you create to not work on the days specified if you specify "WEEK", but the AI will fly on some day :) It's certainly a viable tool to use for AI flight plan creation if you are nor overly concerned with the exact day flights take place. So, you do all your file creation in a directory of your choice then move the compiled BGL file into the FSX SceneryWorldscenery folder. Paul
