question about view distance

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I need to ask for some help about setting the view distance. When you use the traffic toolbox you can watch planes in a designated distance. All I know is the distance is short, really short. Is there a way to change the view distance to a higher number so you can see more planes in the area. I have checked the sdk documents and there is a lot of info but nothing really about this subject. I tried increasing the chase distance but that didn't do a thing. I have been waiting to see if someone asks about the same thing in the forums, but I thought I would go ahead and ask anyway. I am starting to like fsx but would like it more if I could customize it more and better yet understand what I have to customize because it's a whole new game now.

Hi,are you asking about viewing the traffic in the SDK's MAP MODE?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/164051.jpgIf you don't have the menu showing, press 'H' to see 'help' then see the on-screen-menu. Plus/minus for zoom level. FSX.cfg probably remembers the settings so if you accidently turned the menu off, how would you know?If this is not what you're looking for, be a little more specific. You can watch AC out to probably over 100nm in some circumstances.Hope this helps.Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

What I actually meant was in spot view using the traffic toolbox you can watch planes coming and going to the slected airport you are spotting at. But what I would like to do is set that distance to over 100 miles out so I can almost watch a complete flight from arrival to destination. I thank you for your help though.
