June 21, 20214 yr FSX is well...old. So we figure we can max out all the settings and it'll run great right? FPS seems to show this to be true. After dealing with CTD to the point of pulling my hair out (what was left after dealing with MSFS) I've been doing some reading. My errors pointed towards terrain.dll and atc.dll and of course the viral error thingamajig (been so long since I've seen it I forget the name). What I've done is put all scenery type settings at VERY HIGH (I'll try ULTRA later) rather than slide the slider all the way to the end. The game seems to like it when you settle on a predetermind notch (medium high very high - you get my drift). After having done that I've yet to crash at all. Not even alt-tab and checking my Thunderbird email or watch a 2 hour movie on Pluto TV. No crashing to the desktop. Let me know if this works for you - now we can get on with figuring out all the OTHER bugs. - cheers
