 Greetings all,
Sometimes, I want to build a flight plan that is basically a sightseeing trip so I use LNM to build it with waypoints and then export is as .fms for xplane.
I've been doing this for years on the 530 with no issues. I could even modify it in xplane and reload in LNM with no issues.
Recently, I've been trying to learn the G1000 better but I'm having an issue with the flight plans. If I build a plan in LNM and export to Xplane as .fms, no issues. The problem occurs if I modify the plan, save it in the G1000 under the new name it creates and try and reload it from Xplane to LNM. The plan remains fine in Xplane but in LNM, all of the waypoints are red and each has a can't be found error. The route changes are not always there as well.
I have Navigraph and the data bases are the same.
Been looking all day for a solution but no luck yet. This may (and that's a big May) be related to the last LNM update.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've figured out that the re-saved g1000 flight plans causing an issue have no altitude information in them. I'm wondering if it is because the g1000 doesn't seem to apply the "blanket" altitude you select in the LNM plan to each waypoint, so if you don't individually apply it in the g1000, it may not be saved.

I'm going to try some more experimenting today and will report back. I'm really curious if you can duplicate it in the 530. Would be good info to know if it isn't known all ready.

Thanks again !

Hi ALex. It seems the resaved flight plans change what I call the type designations from 28 to 11 and add an "A" in front of the DEP and DES airport.

Those weren't the complete plans, just the first few points. I have figured out that the lost waypoint issue is that Xplane changes the type designation to 11 instead of 28.

The "A" before the DEP and DES lines don't seem to matter and you must not have any blank lines above the first line with the "I" or LNM and probably xplane says it's not a valid file. Would be nice to be able to transfer back and forth.

Will figure out a way to upload the files if I can't attach here.  Thanks again.

Why 11? From the FMS spec:

Quote

The first column is the type of waypoint, and corresponds to the first column in a v3 .fms file. It is 1 for airport, 2 for NDB, 3 for VOR, 11 for named fix and 28 for unnamed lat/lon waypoints.

Are the waypoints in your "user_fix.dat"?
