Welcome to the 48th flight event in the Gunpilot’s Challenging Flights adventure series ✈️. This challenging flights event is located in the High Country region of Victoria, Australia, and is again guaranteed to give you more of the heart pounding and sweaty palms experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.

Gunpilot is proud to gather the crew around again for a very challenging flight thru the High Country of his home state of Victoria. This flight will have it all regarding challenging landings, including:
Lake shores,
Farm paddocks
Ski Resorts
Mountains/Ridges
Wineries
National Parks
River banks
Dam Walls         (and even a couple of country airstrips)
We fly from a farm grass airstrip and will be tasked with 20 landings in the Grand Caravan. Thrown into the mix will be a difficult gliding challenge down to a lake inside one of Australia’s most beautiful National Parks.

While the mountains in this region do not come anywhere close to the French Alps or the Italian Dolomites (both regions we have flown events in before), this flight will still test your ability to stay on course and navigate/fly your aircraft into and out of some very tricky locales that will need your full attention to successfully undertake.

Wearing your Akubra and Drizabone are optional but if you do you will fit right in with the locals                                                                                                                                                 .(edited)

When: Friday 27th August @ 2300 UTC (as usual!)

Where: Australia

Flight Duration: Approx 3hrs (depending on numbers attending)

Aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravan (as always as flight planned around Caravan performance)

Server: SOUTH EAST ASIA

Discord Server: https://discord.gg/rpsHtJXy74 (click on “#Gunpilot’s-Events”)

Voice Chat accessed by clicking on Comms Radio

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Cessna Caravan as all landing and other challenges built into flight are
tailored for this aircraft specifically

Turn Damage mode off as you will most likely suffer at least hard
landings if not full on crashes

Bring plenty of Duc Tape for running repairs

Crash Helmets are optional, Prayers are advisable

Embrace “SLEW” as it will be your friend by the end of the flight

Practicing to make Caravan landing approaches at IAS of between 50-60knts max will see you nailing difficult landings with ease and precision.

Make it easy on yourself to navigate around the route and accurately pinpoint the exact landing areas by downloading and using the free “LittleNavMap” s/w you can get on the web - you will never open the standard sim VFR Map again once you have tried this fantastic app that integrates seamlessly with MSFS2020.

For improved performance of the Caravan, you may wish to add the ZC208B mod into your community folder. This mod can be located in Gunpilots Server …when in the server, click on the #general-postings channel and you will see a pin icon on the top RHS of the screen…click on this pin and it will present the mod to you to download

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen,

You are cordially invited to a Friday night community bush flight.   The host will be GunPilot399.    It should be an interesting tour,  as GunPilot happens to be a retired Australian bush pilot.  (And a half dozen or so of the group are from Aus.)

We use discord to post weekly event notifications,  flight plans,  and to communicate while we fly.   However,  I understand that many hate discord.  Which is no problem,  I can sympathize.  Good thing is,  you don't have to use Discord if you choose to fly along with us.  All you have to do, if so inclined,  is spawn at YMFD on the Southeast Asia Server at the time posted above.

My FS20 handle is WaldoP3pper.  The host's tag is GunPilot399.

Additionally, here is a link to the flight plan which is posted by me, on my personal Google drive.   https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yQ6N6CK3j6_IjHAEmwUVJv0Azc3xlz6I/view?usp=sharing

It would be pleasant to see some of you all fly along.  Hope to see you.

FYI,  we are mostly an adult community.  However,  we don't discriminate in any way so long as an individual is respectful of others.   All ages,  and walks of life are welcome.  The more the merrier,  it's about camaraderie and the love of aviation.

As to what to expect,   GunPilot takes a special pleasure in finding the most technical approaches and departures.   Expect to land literally anywhere.   Expect pilots from all over. We have regulars from the US, CA, EU, AUS, SA,  and Japan.   From first time gamers,  to CFI's,  to a 787/DC-3 pilot.

We fly on the Southeast Asia server because it seems to be lag free for all involved.   If anyone needs any multiplayer tips,  feel free to ask.   No such thing as a stupid question in that area.

Typically I tend to spawn at the departure airport 10-15 minutes early,  to allow for load times and any technical issues that arise.    Spawn on the runway,  and then form up on the nearest taxiway to wait for the others to assemble.

Have a good one,

Waldo

GunPilot's been traveling thousands of KM's around his homeland of Australia.   He's on his return Journey now,  and just sent me this photo from "Devil's Marbles".

To get internet connection last night,  he had to place his phone atop this orange pole in front of that dish.   He said they have them placed across the countryside.  Pretty wild country.

Anyway,  hope to see ya'll.
