September 2, 20214 yr I recently got an XBox S and I like it. It took a bit to figure out basic flying but thats where I am - basic flying. It loaded the Pipistrel Virus which is what I was flying on the PC and when I first got to the cockpit there is a dot that can be moved around the cockpit to select(A) or deselect(B) something to be adjusted like RPMs or barometer. The problem, and my first question, revolves around the fact that as soon as you press a controller key that is mapped to something it takes away the dot. My question is "How do I get the dot back?" My second question is even more basic: How do I actually quit the game? On PC you can "quit to desktop" and its an important thing to do after installing updates imo but I have no idea how to Quit. I've just been selecting 'Home' and then "Turn off Console". maybe thats it?? I hope I find ways to improve (greatly) my cockpit interaction -- Im going to try mouse and keyboard before too long. I have a 'detached' feeling so far. Im just flying and looking instead of having that feeling of flying and navigating to a destination. It'll come with time I think but the XBox is really quite nice and amazingly smooth and looks good so long as you don't look too far out (S version). Flying with your thumbs is different but being able to smoothly fly and look around at the same time is great. My joystick with hat switch never gave me that same feel. I hope somebody comes out with 'control gloves' that you wear and are detected by motion sensors...TrackIR gloves? maybe they already exist? | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. Xbox Button, drop down and highlight MSFS in the home screen. Tap the button with the three lines. Slide down to Quit. How I do it anyway. If you only go to the Home screen it remains running in background Semper Fi
September 2, 20214 yr Author Thanks. any idea how to the 'dot' back? When the dot is there, all the stuff at the top of the screen is there but when it goes away, none of that stuff is there either. I thought there might be a toggle switch or something? Edited September 2, 20214 yr by sightseer | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. September 2, 20214 yr Just now, sightseer said: Thanks. any idea how to the 'dot' back? Tapping LB is Freelook which brings back the dot. Sometimes it's wonky though and doesnt work for me. The workaround is hitting the button with the three lines which takes you to the options menu and brielfy again to go back and it's there again. Not elegant for sure. I mostly fly on PC though. I've always had an Xbox console around though since the original in 2001 If you go to Control Options/Cockpit Camera - you can see the commands Semper Fi
September 3, 20214 yr Author I found the way to 'Quit' and that worked but to get the dots back, what worked on my system is to press both joysticks at the same time. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
