October 15, 20214 yr Despite my decision to never buy anything Carenado again, I decided to give them a new chance with the new simulation and bought the C170B, which is currently on sale for 10 bucks. Well, ten bucks well spent (not) for renewing an old vow to ignore their stuff. - The C170B is not really working in VR, at least not on my HP Reverb G1: It has the old VR bug with the mouse pointer only matching the position of the controls in the left eye display, so I have to close my right eye to make anything work in the cockpit. My suspicion is that the C170 is not the only plane suffering from this, hence the thread title. - All gages are strangely tiny l(ike 2" diameter mini versions of real instruments. So small that they are blurry in my Reverb, which is quite amazing for steam gauges. I have never seen such tiny instruments in my life and I'm not sure they existed. - The amateur-ish sound drives me insane: They managed to use a main engine loop with a slight RPM drop at the end making me want to land and check the engine, and a very cyclically and hence predictably changing wind noise is going on my nerves. Volume issues, not the right engine type or tinny sound etc. is all stuff I can adapt to but loop errors are an absolute showstopper. - The MP ad claims it contains an "Garmin Aera Device" and I wonder what Aera that's supposed to be, with the standard MSFS G3X-style UI in some random frame. The older Aera 550 and such are small 4.3" inch devices and their UI reflects that small size for practical reasons, the standard FS stuff doesn't work well at that size (extremely tiny zoom buttons and all), and not at all with the VR bug and labeling that "Garmin Aera" is pretty bold. - A grossly hypersensitive tailwheel makes taxiing rather surprising: I just have to touch the pedal a little for a turn on a dime. Nuts. - The panel light can only be operated with ALT+L, it has no click spot and can't be turned off without turning all lights off at once by hitting ALT+L again. That's what I encountered on first engine run-up and flying a single pattern of 2 minutes and I'm not curious to find out more. Since the plane and MSFS VR support are out for more than 1/2 year now, I don't have any hope that this will be addressed by Carenada, and that I don't have that hope is the very reason why I never wanted to buy anything from them again. What the **** was I thinking? :)
