Scenic Flightplan Rejected

Recommended Posts

Last year, I created a flightplan - KDCA to KDCA, touring to Baltimore and other interesting places - and ran it impeccably within FSNavigator. However, when I exported it to FS2004, it would not run as such. FS2004 redirected me to KDCA, bypassing all the waypoints that were implemented in the flightplan. This year I made a flightplan, KLAX to KSFO, with a couple of waypoints north of KSFO then doubling back to KSFO for the final landing. Well, FSX did the same thing as FS2004. As soon as I approached KSFO, I was directed to land in KSFO. The flightplan when loaded to the GPS clearly shows the routing, waypoint by waypoint.Anybody try this kind of flightplan? If so, were you successfull to accomplish running the whole flightplan? Thanks.Abe

To do a scenic flight, you'll have to have two flight plans: one which includes all waypoints but the airport plus an airport, say, over on the other side of the country. Then, have another flight plan to load from the last real waypoint back to the departing airport.Another way would be to cancel IFR once ATC starts giving vectors, and file a new flight plan GPS direct to your destination airport.
