Ready to give FSX another chance

Featured Replies

I purchased FSX when it was released last year and was sorely disappointed with the performance on my laptop. Since then I've got my hands on a new laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S) - Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2GHz), 2GB RAM, 256MB Geforce 7600GT graphics...I'm thinking about giving FSX another chance, especially since I read that SP1 will improve performance for dual core processors. I'd like to keep FS9 for my airliner flying, and use FSX for my GA flights. Does anyone else have any experience running FSX on a similar system to mine? Should I order FSX now, or hang fire until SP1 hits the streets? Thanks for any advice.

Er... first you say you purchased FSX and than you ask if you should order it...?If you do NOT have FSX yet, you might as well wait until SP1 is released. Just to be sure.

Okay ;) well, in that case hang fire until SP1 hits the streets.

I disagree! Why wait? Your new system should be fine. You might not get wonderful frame rates in places like New York, but if you do GA flights in and out of smaller cities, then FSX is great, in my opinion. I am assuming that you are 100% sure you would like to (re)purchase and keep FSX, regardless of how you feel about it. For instance, I still have my store-bought copies of Master of Orion 3 and X3 Reunion, even though I grew to hate those games. I can turn my head and see those programs sitting in their boxes on my shelf right now. I don't often return games, even if I loathe them. So, if you are like me, then you should get FSX.However, if you are anything less than 100% sure you want FSX, then by all means wait for SP1. I think it's great that you want to give FSX another try!Jeff ShylukAvsim Product Reviewer
