MSFS 2020 Freeze

Hi all, can someone tell me what the best course of action would be to take, when the Sim freezes in play (during a flight), and even the Escape button doesn't cancel the session?  Would it cause any harm/damage to the programme, or even to any hardware, if the PC was switched off from the power button...   just so you're able to shut everything down?

Try Alt+Tab or Win+D to get to the desktop, then Task Manager from the taskbar, then the Processes tab, then End Task on MSFS.
