May 8, 200719 yr I believe that the Caches are just a buffering tactic to gather stuff from the Internet then have another set of code grab that and process it into BGLs in the new World folder. The actual working elements are the BGLs in the World folder. It is not clear to me if the Cache or the World folder is used to determine if you have already overflown an area with TP. May 8, 200719 yr Don't know which thread Christian monitors the most. I suspect it is the one that is split into two parts. These are good questions. Perhaps a post on the longer thread would get a reply from Christian on this topic. Sorry, don't have the link to the thread at the moment.
May 8, 200719 yr Both the World folder and the cache folders are really caches. The data flow goes like this:Internet -> cache.service1 (JPG) -> World (BMP)You can clear World (run cleanup.bat) and the tiles get replenished from the contents of cache.service1You can delete only cache.service1 and as long as data is still present in World, there will be no additional Internet access. You can clear World (run cleanup.bat) and delete cache.service1 which results in everything to be re-downloaded.Folder name of cache.service1 can vary according to the settings in the INI file. Typically there would be different folder names for different map services configured.
