Hello,

In 2011 I built my own PC desktop…it has:

1. Intel i7-960 @3.20 GHz
2. Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
3. 28 go 0f DDR3 1333 MHz RAM
4 GigaByte GA-X58 Mother board
5.  Silent Pro Gold RS-800-80GA-D3 power pack

I am running Windows 10.

The HDD died last year so I replaced it with a 2Tb SSD drive.

In 2016 I was able to buy a real airplane.  So, I got Prepar3d v 3 to help me with some training.  Soon I found I was too busy flying to deal with the simulating.

Come forward to 2022.  My wife started flight training, so I drug the P3D out for her to work with.  Now what happens is the P3d starts the flight but soon the entire computer just crashes

Question:

1.  What's wrong?
2.  How can I fix it?

3.  What of the 2011 hardware might be replaced to deal with this situation?

Cheers!

Jerry

Well I'd say you likely need some driver/s updated.

How much memory on that GPU? And what driver version are you using for it?

Is Win 10 running latest version (21H2 19044.1503)?

As for drives an SSD is great but it is also best to have one for the OS and a separate one for P3D or MSFS20. Do not install either on the same drive the operating system is installed on. Also have a look in 'Event viewer' for crashes that occurred. That will give you clue/s into what is causing the CTD.

28GB of RAM? You running matched RAM modules? It is generally 8GB, 16GB, 24GB, 32GB preferably 2 or 4 sticks of matched RAM.
