May 11, 200719 yr I've read some various posts about installing this and have read the instructions on the megascenery site, but some things still aren't clear.I have a dedicated HD for FSX. FS9 is not installed anywhere on this machine. If I want to install megascenery 2004 products, I understand that I can do this, but need to cancel out of the install when I'm asked to update the scenery library. The reason is that some .cfg files are updated with settings that are not recommended for FSX. Does anybody know what cfg changes are made by doing this? Thanks,C.
May 12, 200719 yr I think you may have misunderstood the instructions a little bit. The reason for canceling out at the point where it wants to update the scenery library is because that part of the installer is only designed to update the FS2004 scenery library. It will not be able to detect your FSX installation and update its library so you have to do that part manually. Or you could just download the automated installer they provide on that instructions page on the megascenery site. There are no settings made by installing Megascenery 2004 that are not recommended for FSX. What they are referring to is the settings they recommend you use for FS2004 are not recommended for use in FSX. That's why they provide you with a new list of settings for FSX but it's completely up to you to make those scenery settings. If you need more help you might get some helpful responses in the megascenery forums here: http://www.pcaviator.com/megascenery/forums/
May 12, 200719 yr Author Also... if you install 2004 Mega sceneries without fs9 on your system you can only fly FSX in one season (summer.) i just reinstalled fs9 and reinstalled alll my megasceneries by installing them first into fs9 and then use PC Aviators tool for transfering them to FSX so now i enjoy all seasons. I have tested this with SoCal and Atlantic sceneries and it works as advertised. On a seperate note, I do use a dedicated harddrive for just mega stuff... nothing else. Now waiting on Vista compat. defragger very important.Good LuckSteve
