Tile Proxy Beta 3 - Gettin' ready for SP1

Featured Replies

I'm loving TileProxy and am looking forward to the SP1 performance boost. Figured I better post these questions during the calm before the SP1 forum flood hits:) I've just downloaded the Beta 3 of Tile Proxy, however the read me file does not specify how to install it. I am posting here as I am thinking many others will have the same questions. 1. I am currently running Beta 1. Do I install Beta 3 over Beta 1 or uninstall Beta 1 first?2. Do I uninstall Beta 1, then patch SP1, then install Beta 3? or can SP1 be installed over Beta 3?3. Assuming I have to uninstall Beta 1 is this the process?:a) Remove tile proxy from memory (forgot the exact terminology) with included the dos batch command.:( Start FSX and deactivate ( uncheck ) all "world" folders in the scenery library.c) Rebuild scenery database.d) Exit FSX and delete "World" and "Tile Proxy" folders and contents from the FSX folder.e) Restart FSX and it should be back to default? ...and while I have your attention. I've been flying recently in the same areas while testing and tweaking TileProxy on my system. I have not deleted or cleaned out any of the cache or world folder files thinking that they wouldn't have to be downloaded again. However even though I am flying over the same terrain it seems that there is still a lot of downloading activity occurring. Is my assumption and thinking incorrect? Should I be cleaning out the cache and world folders for optimum performance?TedPentium 3.0, 1 gig mem, 6800GT, 80 gig SATA, XP-SP2, FSG mesh

Did you read the release notes next to the download button?Rich

installing over the Beta 1 is fine. Just make sure TileProxy and FSX aren't currently running. If you have used the Beta 1 or 2 since the last reboot (meaning tileproxy.sys is loaded), you may should reboot after installation.

Thanks for the response Christian,I did read the notes on your download page but they didn't address the questions I had. Due to the problems I see people having with SP1, I think I am going to just going to wipe FSX and start with a fresh install though.Ted
