I Purchased FSX because of SP1

Featured Replies

Here's what I posted in another thread in the FS9 forums (revised):I decided that the time and effort Microsoft put into SP1, with respect to supporting multicore processors, along with the other fixes, that I would buy FSX last night. I was very hard on FSX when it came out because of the terrible performance that everyone was having, as well as the lack of support for newer systems. Obviously, Microsoft/ACES has proven itself to the community with this patch, and I'm happy to support them in their development of this series. I love FS9 and it serves all my needs right now, but FSX has potential, as do all future MSFS series.I still need to build a new computer to enjoy it properly, but that goes without saying. I understand the desire to skip FSX, as some have mentioned, however, I'm fully involved in this hobby and feel that the support of the ACES team is important to keep it alive. I think with the extent in which ACES devoted to improving performance, it shows they care about the community, and I wouldn't be surprised if another smaller patch came out to fix any lingering issues. No matter what, FS9 needed a lot of attention when it first came out, but MS was rather quiet until 9.1 was revealed at a convention. We all know the 9.1 patch was a small one and only addressed a memory leak, yet people still have CTD's. My point is, regardless of us wanting SID/STARs (navdata) and ATC/AI updates, which we still want in FS11, this deserves a lot of recognition for the support from ACES on Avsim and other forums in helping us enjoy our beloved hobby.Thank you Phil and all the developers who worked to correct FSX. I/we appreciate all you're doing to keep us happy about our purchase. I look forward to building a new system in the future and installing my new copy of FSX on it. The screen shots I'm seeing here are amazing by the way.
