May 19, 200719 yr Anyone else getting anything like this? Sorry not sure how to make the jpg files appear in the message.Pix 1 and 2 - This happens every few minutes it seems, when the system is loading graphics or something. It's very annoying.Pix 3 and 4 - The first one shows what all of the airports look like in the Southern California area, and there are also big light brown bare spots just east of KONT. I have been kind of disgusted with FSX since my home base (KPOC) looks like this so I have not really tested many other areas, could this be a SoCal thing? I doubt it because the next pic is from the tutorial.Pic 4 is from one of the tutorials, and I also have seen bare spots like this in other areas.Any help would be greatly appreciatedAT
May 19, 200719 yr HiI do get 1 and 2 but only momentarily upon return from a big texture load. Only a half a second or so then the textures fill in properly.3 and 4 - That is fixable by using such a product as Cloud9 landclass. It's well worth it in my opinion. The sandy mountains and desert airports go away, well in most places anyway. - ALSO... try flying in Spring. Much greener! May 19, 200719 yr Airtime, you can reduce those 1 & 2 by selecting bilinear filtering and reducing your AA and Aniso at the card level. It will reduce it, will fully not eliminate it, if while flying you switch to a dense area through the "world" menu you'll get them but for contigous flight you wont.
May 19, 200719 yr Greetings AT!I see nothing wrong with pictures 3 and 4, where exactly are the brown/empty spots you refer to? To my (admittedly limited) eyesight everything is beautifully sharp and detailed, nothing like the infamous "leopard spots" in FS9...Picture 1 is familiar to me, but it only appears (sometimes) at initial loading. If you get it every few minutes, the only thing I can think of is that you might lock your framerates somewhat lower (I can't decipher the framerates in the pic), and possibly crank "bandwidth multiplier" up a notch or two.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

I am thinking there should be grass like I have seen in FS9.AT
May 19, 200719 yr That is grass, but 'latent' grass. This is a realistic color for grass for half the year, at least around here (Massachusetts). Set the sim time to summer and it should look very green.--Chris
May 19, 200719 yr Ah, now I understand what you mean! No worries though, there's nothing wrong with your rig or your settings - it's just that FSX has some "unorthodox" landclass here and there. You should see Europe: according to Microsoft/ACES the continent exists of mostly desert...I improved the looks of Europe with some Cloud9 landclass. There are several more landclass options, especially for the States. Shop around a bit, pick one, and you'll be alright.Cheers!Jaap Verduijn.
