Vista help

Featured Replies

Sorry guys I know this has been answered many times, but I need your help. I have vista ultimate 32 and now each time I run FSX and change something in the settings, the program will just crash and re-start. I can't register FSUIPC and I believe I did follow the installation instructions. Each time this happens, I loose my previous settings and have to start all over.ATI 1650 512 PCI E-16DRIVER 7.4E6600 2CD 2.402GB RAMGus

I haven't had the problem but if you installed FSX on the C: drive then the problem may be do do with permissions. Try running FSX as Administrator (right click on the FSX icon and choose "Run as Administrator"). I install all my FS stuff on a D drive so I have been able to avoid a lot of that kind of problem, though I have had it in other software.Steven.

Gus,I had so many problems with Vista that I trashed it, reformatted my drive, and installed XP SP2 again. Now life is back to normal. All I see in Vista that is not in XP are some flashy graphics, multi media support that I don't need, and endless "security" issues, where Windows keeps announcing that it does not like itself. All money down the drain.Enuf. :-rollRob

Thank you Steve......I will try that and see what happens.Rob....I now fill the same way, but unfortunately, I'm stuck with Vista. Thnx

I finally found a way to run FSX for a while until I tried to change display settings where it crashed and restarted again. I am permanently running FSX as administrator and also running it as 'compatibility with Win XP SP2'. This is why I got it running for a while until making those display settings. Question: I have X-FI soundcard, but since the Vista driver does not work or control my 7.1 creative speaker, I'm not using the Vista compatible driver for X-FI soundcard. Can this be my CTD problem?Gus

With my AMD64-2, I used Phil Taylors setting for Multicore. Try that and go slow when making changes. I think there is a bug in the patch. There is a tweak to control scheduling of threads on cores. It is not recommended to change these settings unless you have a performance reduction and/or maxed out CPU loads in the PerfMonitor. The tweak isEdit:Fixed a typo here [JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=nwhere n num of cores scheduled1 = 1 core 00013 = 2 cores 00117 = 3 cores 011115= 4 cores 1111
