May 23, 200719 yr Call it what you will, I have been having problems since SP1 was released. I do not feel it is an SP1 Issue though.I have searched the forums for this problem but could not find anything like this.Heres what happened. Reading through the forums a couple of days after I installed SP1. Found a thread recommending that the hard drive should be defragmented after install of FSX and SP1. Everything was running fine before then, but i decided, since its been forever that ive defragmented, I thought i would check it out. Low and behold, I needed to defrag badly. So...... I did.Well, after words, I started getting these freeze/hang/lockups. I would be on the runway at DFW or any large Airport, and so long as i didnt switch views, go into a menu and then come out or move, it was fine, but as soon as I would do one of those 3 things, the game would lock up for up to a minute, sometimes longer, then be fine again untill i did one of those 3 things again. It does not do this away from the large airports. I had made no changes to hardware, Divers, or anything else. What I have done in trying to fix this problem is uninstall and reinstall FSX. With and with out SP1. Have also formatted and reinstalled Windows XP. A fresh Install of FSX, with out adjusting any sliders still produces this problem. This is for the most part, a brand new system. So I dont believe its a hardware problem.Any help or ideas would be apreceated. My specs areAMD Athalon 64X Dual Core 5200ATI X850 Pro1 Gig Ram
May 23, 200719 yr There is a lot of discussion about overclocked computers having some difficulty with the new sim. If you happen to be overclocked, try going back to stock speeds and testing through again. With SP1 making use of both cores moreso than what your computer may have ever been tested to, there could be excessive heat generated and/or loads placed on overclocked memory that simply haven't been tested on your computer.I've been having some odd crashes (some full lockups, others crashes to desktop), and I *do* have an overclock in place. I'm going to remove the overclock and test it soon to see if my issues go away. Of course, if you are *not* overclocking... "nevermind!"
