Since SP1 Much Lower FPS in 2D cockpit and higher in VC

Featured Replies

Hi Since I installed SP1 I notice an increase in FPS overall but a big hit in 2D cockpit performance, down to only around 5fps compared to 15-20+fps in VC. Before the patch I was getting about the same for both and sometimes better in 2D!!Has anyone got similar experience or suggest a reason why this might be or how I might improve things in 2D?Dell XPS 2 2.14ghznVidia 256 goUltra graphics2gb RAMSaitek X52 joystick and throttleMany thanksGerry

Yes - it is happening to me. Can't seem to make it repeatable, but some panels are worse than others. For me it is seen in the 737, the Airbus, the ERJ, and even in the Beach Baron (NOT the GP1000 version, just analog gauges). I have seen the rate drop to 1.5 (that's NOT a typo).I can make it happen faster when jumping to various views and back to the 2D cockpit or sometimes it just happens. I really like the SP1 because I have the Shockwave P-51 Solo and the gauge smoothness is great, however, this problem has rendered lots of my acft close to useless.I am thinking of removing SP1 for now. Sometime soon, perhaps a new system with multi-core could happen and then I would migrate to that machine and install FSX and SP1. It's frustrating, and nothing I've tried will permanently get rid of it.EDIT: Just remembered the landing lights now working post SP1 so will keep SP1 and try to figure out the low 2D FPS problem.Oh - and the installation of SP1 did something to FS9 so it was failing solid (send report to MS? type failure) so finally I removed FS9. Lost all that I had there.PhillMy 5 year old system - Dell 8200, P4 2.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, ATI 9800 Pro 128MB video.

I am running fsx in window mode. When I experience very low cockpit fps, I simply resize the window; make it smaller and than bigger again. This kicks the high fps back in.Usually it does not help me a lot since I get a CTD shortly afterwards, which I described in the CTD forum. But you may give it a try.Greg, Switzerland

OK - will do that tonight and see what happens. Went to windowed mode but did not try resize, so that is something to try.Phill
