June 21, 20223 yr Hello there, First and foremost, thank you Alex for this wonderful program! I pretty much use it all the time when simming nowadays, it makes life so much easier! Would it be possible to use static images as a background? I am well aware that non-vector images will causes some ugliness depending on the scale, but there are quite a few geo-referenced TIFFs that would come in handy. Thanks a lot! Cheers Romain
June 21, 20223 yr Hi Romain, no GeoTIFF per se, but you can convert them into a map: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/MAPTHEMES.html You might also try to put them into a KML file. Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
June 23, 20223 yr Author Hi Alex, I tried looking into that, but all links to the DGML reference are dead, and therefore I have no idea how to use the layer attributes to point to a static image instead of a downloadURL. I am confident that with the proper documentation I could do better, but I can't find that documentation I'm missing. Thanks for any pointers you might have! Best Romain

All links on the manual page are working. Just checked. Quote 63. Creating Map Themes To add an arbitrary online or offline map to Little Navmap simply add the map directory from a downloaded or self created map theme to the data\maps\earth directory. Tip Also check out the Little Navmap Support Forum at AVSIM, Little Navmap Downloads - Map Themes and LittleNavmapOFMTheme for more map themes. The full path to the DGML file (see links below for more details about DGML) describing the map must be ...\Little Navmap\data\maps\earth\opencyclemap\opencyclemap.dgml if you like to add the OpenCycleMap for example. The DGML file can refer to an online map service or included offline map data. Usually a map theme contains many more files than only the DGML. The menu View -> Theme in the main menu and the toolbar drop down box will receive an entry for each additional map theme. Custom map themes are prefixed with a * in the drop down box and with the word Custom in the menu. The options Show Country and City Names and Show Hillshading are enabled for all additional map themes but might not work depending on properties defined in the map’s DGML file. More maps and information about map configuration and DGML files can be found here on the Marble and KDE pages: Download more maps for the Marble widget (only Earth maps are supported in Little Navmap😞 Additional Maps A tutorial that shows how to create a map theme based on tiled images: Marble/CustomMaps A tutorial showing how to create a map theme based on OSM Slippy Maps: How to create map themes based on OSM slippy maps How to create a historical map for Marble: Historical Maps for Marble Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
July 12, 20223 yr Author Hi, Thanks. What was missing from the Marble/CustomMaps is what to use inside the <layer> element for an offline map, but based on the examples I should be able to figure something out. Cheers Romain
July 6, 20232 yr Hello, I use the QGIS for georeferencing (use it to map a certain terrain when building a costume airport in MSFS). I already have a full country Portuguese VFR chart georeferenced in GeoTiff file that I can import to Google Earth and works fine as overlay. Can't export KML from Google earth because is too big and doesn't open in Little Navmap, better, I can but it doesn't appear in LNM. Smaller version it does, but doesn't have enough quality... I am almost there but the misses the "almost" .. 🙂 My question is, how can I export a georeferenced image directly from QGIS 3.2 (without passing through Google Earth KML) to Little Navmap as it doesn't have the KML (Keyhole Markup Language) option anymore... Any other format? Any other way? Thank you in advance! Antonio.

Any other format? Any other way? ???? QGIS still have an option to save layer into KML format. I've checked it a moment ago at newest QGIS 3.28 under Linux. There is plenty of tutorials on Internet how to export layer in KML format under QGIS 3, below is one of them.
