July 31, 20223 yr While playing with the updated PMDG B737 700 this weekend, I noticed a strange behavior with my RTX 2060 (sw 516.59) and ASUS monitor running 2560x1440. I have not been real satisfied with the visual quality of MSFS. It never looks like the YouTube videos or screen shots. Everything is very "pixelated", especially terrain features like trees and the clouds. Depending on airport and location, I get between 20 and 40 FPS running most ULTRA settings. I was running experiences with VSync, cycling it on and off and changing the refresh rate in MSFS between 30 and 60. I also opened Nvidia Control Panel and cycled from the monitors native refresh rate of 75 Hz to 60 Hz. What difference that made! The pixelizations were gone. The attitude indicator's pitch markings were smooth instead of having funny blue lines run through them as the display refreshed. It looked closer to what others are showing in their screen shot posts. I thought I had this problem solved. Not so fast. Today, I did a flight out MDW to STL, and the same pixelizations and crappy graphics appeared. I had not changed a thing in my settings. After takeoff and on the climb out, I windowed MSFS, when back into Nivida Control Panel, and cycled back from 60 Hz back to 75 Hz. Again, the MSFS display was fixed. Continued cycling between 60 Hz and 75 Hz did not make a difference. Going into MSFS, I turned VSync off. No change! The display was still good. The frame rates in cruise didn't budge. They stayed 38 FPS. First, is this behavior normal? Should cycling the refresh rate in Nvidia control panel change the picture quality in MSFS? Should it be required to do so when running MSFS? I was using the recommendation for P3D in setting up my Global Settings in Nvidia. I have not changed anything to optimize for MSFS, so some things may be set wrong. Any recommendations? I know that the card is getting long in tooth, and now that stocks are back up and prices dropping, I'm considering upgrading video cards, but not quite yet. Am I going to have to cycle the refresh rate to get MSFS to look good every time I start it? Thanks in advance for any help! Rich Boll Richard Boll Wichita, KS
