Something to check also concerning stutters

Here is a little something to check concerning stuttering and/or sound problems. In device manager double check your primary and/or secondary IDE channel settings and make sure they are set to DMA transfer mode and NOT PIO mode. Every so often for one reason or another when the drives get 5 or 6 crc errors due to system hangs reboots or sometimes software installations or whatever the channels switch to PIO mode which just about cuts your data transfer speed to less the half of what it should be.
