June 23, 200718 yr Please look at the screenshot below. Buildings in Mumbai are just not like this. Is there anyway I can change the shape and tyep of autogen buildings?
June 23, 200718 yr Hi,I'm not an expert on FSX scenery and autogen and maybe some scenery guru might add his/her comments to mine.Yes the shape and type of autogen may be changed, but to do this you need to design an add on scenery and autogen. For FS2004 such add ons are available both as freeware and payware, but I don't know if India is covered by any of these. As for FSX there isn't much available yet, but after the release of SP1 I guess a lot more will emerge. Let's hope that someone will design som India specific add on.Another thing is the landclass. The default FSX landclass show up a lot of big city blocks around VABB. I use MyWorld FSX Landclass (payware) and I took som pictures:First a picture above VABB with the FSX default landclass:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174163.jpgThen the same view with MyWorld FSX landclass:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174164.jpgAnd two other pictures with MyWorld FSX landclass above VABB:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174165.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174166.jpgI'm not familiar with India and the sourroundings of the VABB airport.Hope this helps.Ulf B :-)
June 24, 200718 yr Ulf,The density of buildings near the airport as shown in fsx is correct. Its very congested near VABB and around the airport perimeter there are large number of shanties. Unfortunately, in fsx the shanties are shown as big roman age buldings with coutryards! Thats the problem. In FSX autogen under the urban textures there are no options for slums and shanties!!
June 24, 200718 yr Santanu,I had a look of the sorroundings of VABB in Earth Google. Yes it's quite dense and with trees, but no big city courtyard buildings. In my opinion a better suited landclass would improve the Mumbai city.Have you ever thought of creating a landclass yourself? You could try EZ-Landclass 3.01 by Russel Dirks. You'll find it in here on avsim.Ulf B :-)
June 24, 200718 yr Yep, the same problem existed in FS9 for many countries. The solution for Australia was Voz:http://vistaoz.org/This group put in a lot of effort and expertise to get Oz looking like it really does. But now we have FSX and a lot more work is required. I understand there will be payware textures for Australia later this year from Orbx.Cheers,Noel. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
June 24, 200718 yr There are no favela, bidonville, shantytown, or, the U.S. equivalent, trailer park land class in Flight Simulator. You should use another value such as urban large city grid or non-grid.Also, if you are getting the polyline buildings (with courtyards), it is probably because your region file displays that particular ground texture. This can be modified to display another region's ground by creating a new region file.To modify the appearance of the buildings, please see the Autogen S.D.K. documentation. It explains how to create a new texture sheet that more accurately represents the appearance of local buildings.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 24, 200718 yr Yes agree with you all. Looks like I'll have to sit and create it. Let me start reading the autogen sdk and this landclass utility.
June 24, 200718 yr Santanu,Visit the scenery design forum her on avsim and http://fsdeveloper.com/ God luck :-)Ulf B
