A few SD Yak-40 questions issues

Featured Replies

I’m trying out the SD Yak-40 and have a couple questions and issues.  Hoping someone may be able to add some help or guidance.

1. Every time I open the FS9 default Nav Log after loading up the Yak-40 plane, FS9 crashes.  I can work around that but wonder if anyone else has experienced the same or know of a fix.

2. There is supposedly and English sound pack that was made for the Yak-40, but I have been unable to find it.  Does anyone know where to get it. Not necessary but would be nice to have.

3. I’m struggling to figure out how the navigation instruments work on this plane.  I’ve read the manual and watched a tutorial video on it’s still not all clicking.  Right now my biggest issue is flying a simple heading.  I think the RMI gauge on the pilot’s panel is the only instrument to use for that purpose and at times I don’t think it’s correct.  So looking for some help from someone who knows how all the nav instruments work.

4.  Would like to get a GPS working on it.  There is a GPS instrument view, but that just brings up a black window.

Do you have a file name for your YAK-40 and where you downloaded it from ? If it's freeware I can then download it myself and could test it to see if I have the same problems as you have.

What do you mean by "default nav LOG" ? Is this soemething separate from the YAK-40 itself ?

Regards

Hans

Hi Hans,

Thanks for responding.

It is a freeware program that is available on the Russian AVSIM site.  I'll get you additional details when I can, might be a couple days before I can though as I will be a bit busy over the next week or so.  There wasn't a manual included in the plane download but was available in a separate download from the same site.  The manual is written in both Russian and English.

My understanding is that it used to be payware but was released as freeware upon the authors passing.  I've found it so far to be a very well made but unique plane with a bit of a learning curve to it.

I'm in the middle of my second flight so far (a lot of pausing) and I'm starting to get a better understanding of the navigation gages and techniques to use them.  But I'm far from being proficient with them.

What I mean about the Nav LOG.  I used the FS9 built in flight planner to plan my first flight.  The flight planner in FS9 creates a navigation log.  Every time I've tried to open the navigation log created by the FS9 flight planner, FS9 crashes.  By crashing I mean FS9 closes down.
