Saitek/Logitech Pro Flight Yoke mode switch woes

Featured Replies

For reasons which I cannot fathom (except for the pitiful customer support of Logitech, that is) The Pro Flight Yoke has always had an issue with their mode switch. As long as you are using the Saitek Smart Technology profile editor, it works and interfaces fine. Using it outside the profile editor and there is an issue with the mode switch...an issue as in it appears to function--Windows Game Controller setup shows the mode switch working--but flight sims will not "see" the mode switch.

One fix for that has been finding the driver "SaiD0BAC.pr0" and renaming it. That has always worked for me in the past. However, this time...this time, trying to rename that driver returns the File Access Denied error message "You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file".

Thankfully, there seems to be a workaround that enables the mode switch to properly interface, and that is to open Windows Game Controller, select the Yoke and then click the properties button, and finally making any motion of the yoke. Voila! The mode switch now interfaces with LINDA, FSUIPC, FSX, and P3D.

Needless to say, having to hack a fix like that is annoying as heck. Yes, I'm glad it works, but I would have thought/hoped by now an actual fix would have been developed and released. Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, do you have a superior fix for this?
