FSX stops responding to keyboard

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, When I start FSX, all is fine. It runs without stutters or blurries with frames rates locked at 30fps. But then minutes later, I'll press a key and find FSX ignores the key press, while it still accepts joystick input from axis or buttons. This means I can't open ATC, or zoom in or out, or indeed use any of the keyboard commands. This has been happening almost every flight, although not consistently at any particular time after starting FSX.Has anyone experienced a similar problem and is there a fix? Cheers,Noel.

Could a similar problem to what I had...trying clicking on the screen to re-focus. Cheers

Thanks for the suggestion Don, but that doesn't fix the problem in my case. The only thing that brings it back is if I hit the Windows key, swapping out of FSX, and then swap back. Sometimes I get back normal responses to keyboard input, sometimes not.Any other ideas people? I tried a different keyboard but the same thing happens.Cheers,Noel.

Are you running FSX above normal priority? - I have heard of USB keyboards failing to respond if a program has too high a priority.

Is the ATC window open? I've had this happen to me when the ATC window opens. If so, if you click in the main window, this should allow FSX to continue responding to the keys again.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It's happening without ATC open and I've tried two keyboards and they are both not USB. Perhaps there may be some interaction with screen saver settings? It always happens some time into the flight. Maybe a service is shutting down after a period of time without keyboard input? I'll keep trying things out and hope I can isolate the problem. Intermittent faults are always the worst.Cheers,Noel.
