February 22, 20233 yr First, I should say hello. This is my first post as a new member to AVSIM. I've been a flight simmer, off and on, for a very long time (mid 90's), but I just recently really dove into the hobby. I'm curious by nature and I really like to try out different hardware when I find deals on eBay. Just recently I came across a graphics card that peaked my curiosity. I won the bidding and got the Nvidia Quadro M2000 4GB graphics card for $36. The card itself is advertised as a professional graphics card but has the same architecture as the GTX960 I believe. I wasn't expecting much when I bought it, especially since I'm using a computer setup from 2017. AMD PRO A8-8650b 3.2-3.9GHz turbo speed with slow DDR3 1,666MHz RAM (16gb). I got the card, installed it and booted up. I had been using P3Dv4.5 with my other graphics setup but decided to go ahead and buy P3Dv5.3 and I'm glad I did. It runs so much smoother and with fairly high settings, at 1920x1080, I'm getting a consistent 30fps locked (40-50fps unlocked) flying various aircraft. Mostly the T-6 Texan and C-130J model EICAS flight deck. This is with MSAA at 4x, Anisotropic Filtering at 8x. Saying I was surprised is an understatement. I'm very happy with this cheap eBay find and thought I'd share my experience here since this site has been such a huge help and a very big influence on my flight simming journey. For anyone that has an older computer, with an open PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, that is looking for a decent, not reviewed much, well performing, graphics card. I highly recommend trying to find one of these.
