Atacama Coast

Starting on the Pacific coast of Chile at Chanaral (SCRA) the route proceeds 48nm north over the Pan de Azúcar National Park to Las Breas (SCTT). A short leg to the coastal the port of town of Taltal then turning north to Paranal Airport (SCPA) and the VLT on the nearby mountain.   It is 70nm over the coast range passing the important coastal city of Antofagasta to arrive at its commercial airport and frequent RTWR stop - Andres Sabella Intl (SCFA). The route continues northward -sometimes along the coast – sometimes inland - with multiple landings. The final section will cross the Pampa del Tamarugal National Reserve before turning west to the Pacific coast for a finish at Iquique.

Aircraft: The total route is 461nm and an aircraft capable of 250knts cruise will be needed to finish on time.  I plan to fly the King Air.  Warbirds such as the P-38 or Corsair would also work well.  As always you are free to fly what you like.
