Yes there are miracles! My blurries are gone.

Recommended Posts

I deleted the 'fsx.cfg' file first.I thought I would try some different settings in the nVidia control panel. Well gosh, I did something right, my blurries are completely gone. No popping or stuttering either. My settings in fsx are 'trilinear' and 'anti-aliasing', unlimited frame rate, all sliders maxed except water on high 1.x, scenery complexity at very dense and autogen at normal. I get 34 fps up to three digits. Note that my cpu and video card are slightly over-clocked.I have Windows XP (sp2) with a Gigabyte 7950 GTX using nVidia driver release v158.27 and an FX-62.In nVidia control panel I have the following showing under 'Manage 3D Settings' panel.anisotropic filtering 8Xantialiasing - gamma offantialiasing - setting 4Xantialiasing - transparency offconformant texture clamp use hardwareerror reporting offextension limit offforce mipmaps nonemulti-gpu performance mode single-gpumulti-display/mixed-gpu accel single-display performance modetexture filtering - aniso mip offtexture filtering - aniso sample offtexture filtering - negative lod allowtexture filtering - quality high qualitytexture filtering - trilinear op offthreaded optimization autotriple buffer offvertical sync force off

Do you have any AI aircraft packages (e.g. WOAI, Project AI, etc.) and if so, what are your AI settings? Thanks.

>Do you have any AI aircraft packages (e.g. WOAI, Project AI,>etc.) and if so, what are your AI settings? Thanks.I only have FSGenesis mesh and MegaScenery for Hawaii and custom ground textures found at Avsim.Vehicles, ships and boats are each at 15%. I really don't care much about these options. I usually turn them off.Airport vehicle density at medium.General aviation 100%.Airline traffic 50%.I have been flying only GA, Lear and CRJ so I turn down the airline traffic. They just get in the way at airports. lol

I am one of those hopeless people who, in spite of themselves, find tweaking FS perhaps even more fun than flying it. That being said, I thought I had FSX dialed in, even after SP1. For whatever reason (probably more careless tweaking) I recently saw that the blurries had returned with a vengence. I hate blurries. They keep me away from FS, which would probably help me get a life, but I keep getting drawn back in. That being said, here's my latest fix for the blurries:Like all things FS, much is dependent on the system. Here's my aging mid-level setup:P4 3.6 gHz2 gigs RAMRAID 0nVidia 7950GT2 Dell flat screen monitors1: get the latest DirectX drivers from Microsoft2: get the latest nVidia drivers3: although nVidia recommends letting FS run the show, I get better results if the card does it, like this: anistro filtering 8x aa gamma correction off aa 4x aa transparency supersample texture clamp hardware extension limit hardware force mipmaps none multidisplay multiple display performance texture filt aniso mip off texture filt aniso sample off texture filt negative LOD clamp texture filtering quality quality texture filtering trilinear opt on triple buffer off vertical sync force off4: next, FSX settings: tartget frame rate 20 (I could get up to 35 if this was set to unlimited, but my research suggests this will always lead to ground texture degradation. Did I mention that I hate blurries?) filtering bilinear aa unchecked global texture resolution high 2-D instrument panel (at 50% zoom, by the way. I've used this setting since FS4, at least.) aircraft cast shadows on ground aircraft landing lights illuminat ground LOD radius large mesh complex 85 mesh resolution 10m texture resolution 7cm water effects low 2.x scenery complexity dense autogen density normal special effects high cloud draw 70mi detailed clouds cloud coverage: high download winds aloft weather change no airline traffic 50% ga traffic 0% (I use world of ai, which defeats all ga traffic) airport vehicles medium no aircraft labels cars 15% ships 15$ boats 15%5: finally, the relevant fsx.cfg tweaks (delete your existing fsx.cfg if you dare; regardless, backup first): [Display] RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.0/scalesedge,center,end,touchdown,runways RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=0.5 //scales VASI lights) RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.0 //scales approach light bars RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=0.8 //scales RAILs and ODALs) TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=20 [Main] FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.7 [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT .0] Mode=1920x1200x32 MipBias=6 [sCENERY] SmallPartRejectRadius=2 [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS=4.500000 MESH_COMPLEXITY=85 MESH_RESOLUTION=22 TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=29 AUTOGEN_DENSITY=2 DETAIL_TEXTURE=1 WATER_EFFECTS=4 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2500 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000 SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=30 [bUFFERPOOLS] PoolSize=5000000Perhaps this wil be of help to you. As for me, I off to more tweaking, of course.
